In partnership with the SonoSteam® division at FORCE Technology, the SonoSteam® decontamination technology has been integrated into the SEMI-STAAL SonoSteam® mattress disinfection system. This solution allows for quick and effective cleaning of mattresses without the use of chemicals.
The effective process time in a SonoSteam® treatment is ultra-short and can in some cases be reduced to under a second. The method is therefore suitable for treating heat-sensitive and water-sensitive products.

SEMI-STAAL SonoSteam® Technology
SonoSteam® is a chemical-free decontamination process for non-food and food surfaces. The technology uses a combination of steam and ultrasound to achieve a quick and intensified treatment within seconds. The short treatment time is ideal for decontaminating temperature-sensitive and water-sensitive surfaces such as hospital mattresses, beds, and other contact surfaces such as transport boxes, conveyor belts, knives, and hospital equipment.
The SonoSteam® technology has been safety tested on different types of disease-causing bacteria, including those relevant to the food industry (i.e. campylobacter and salmonella) and those that cause hospital-acquired infections (i.e. disease-causing members of the Enterobacteriaceae family such as E. coli).
Significant reduction of microorganisms
Effective reduction of pathogens and multi-resistant bacteria, such as Klebsiella pneumonia, Escherichia coli, Clostridium difficile, Staphylococcus aureus, and Enterococcus, which are common causes of hospital-acquired infections. Additionally, SonoSteam® is effective against yeast and fungi.

The combination of ultrasound and steam results in a heat transfer that is so fast that microorganisms are reduced within seconds.
No use of chemicals
SonoSteam® only uses steam and ultrasound. The process uses no chemicals or other substances that can leave residue. The technology can also be used on organic surfaces.

The microorganisms in the microstructure are reduced by the steam. The ultrasound causes the steam to penetrate the surface’s cavities and pores.
